Summary: The role of Sr. Network Engineer involves analyzing and testing network infrastructure elements, as well as designing and implementing network solutions tailored to business requirements. This position is a contract role lasting over a year with a dynamic organization. The engineer will also manage network projects and serve as a technical mentor to less experienced staff. The position requires extensive knowledge of network management tools and protocols, along with strong interpersonal and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and test all elements of the network infrastructure.
- Design and implement network solutions based on business requirements.
- Plan, design, and implement data network infrastructure components.
- Coordinate the development and maintenance of procedures, specifications, and standards.
- Act as a technical SME in network analysis design and engineering.
- Ensure system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored.
- Define, oversee, and participate in the work of less experienced network engineers.
- Manage network projects related to technology pilots, conversions, and implementations.
- Participate in the audit process regularly.
- Design overall network architecture for projects.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues.
- Establish network priorities related to business goals.
- Enhance knowledge base for new products and vendor solutions.

- Expert knowledge of network management tools, test equipment, circuits, and modems.
- Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP protocol stack and firewall security.
- Advanced knowledge of X.25, frame relay, Ethernet, and token rings.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, customer service, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to serve as a technical mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
- 8-10 years of related network experience.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Experience with routers, hubs, and bridges.
- Experience with SNMP Management Tool and MS Office preferred.
- BS in Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
- Cisco certifications such as CCNA and CCNP required; CCIE preferred.

Plans, designs, and implements data network infrastructure components. Coordinates the development and maintenance of procedures, specifications, and standards. Defines, oversees, and participates in the work performed by less experienced network engineers to plan design and manage network infrastructure components for effective performance, cost effectiveness and availability. Manages network projects related to technology pilots, conversions, implementations, etc. Regularly participates in the audit process. Design of the overall network architecture for an LOB or corporate wide project. Troubleshoots the most complex network issues. Establishes network priorities as they related to the achievement of short and long term business goals and objectives. Full knowledge of the business and architecture of the network. Continues to enhance knowledge base for new products and vendor solutions that impact the business. Requirements Expert knowledge of a variety of network management tools, test equipment, circuits, and modems. Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP protocol stack and firewall security in an inter-networking environment. Advanced knowledge of X.25, frame relay, Ethernet, and token rings. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, customer service, communications, and presentation skills. Ability to serve as a technical mentor to others and guide less experienced engineers and technicians in resolving complex problems. Ability to apply expert knowledge of network engineering to the most complex problems and to direct rain and guide less experienced staff. 8-10 years of related network experience. Demonstrated project management experience. Experience with routers, hubs, and bridges. Experience with SNMP Management Tool, POC based tools and products, and MS Office preferred. BS in Engineering or equivalent technical experience. Cisco certifications such as CCNA and CCNP required. CCIE certifications preferred.
