Summary: The Sr. Desktop Design Engineer Lev.2 is a remote position focused on providing engineering design support for desktop and laptop computers, including evaluating hardware and software, application packaging, and testing systems. The role involves managing and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows environments, providing Tier-3 support, and maintaining Client Management Systems. Candidates must have extensive experience with Client Management Systems and Windows administration, along with strong troubleshooting skills. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Engineering Design level support for desktop and laptop computers and related technology and software.
  • Evaluate new enterprise level hardware and software; application packing and installation for automated deployment; testing of computer systems and peripherals.
  • Interact with application software and operating systems to ensure performance meets agency standards.
  • Provide design engineering services for Desktops, VoIP support, telecommunication, Video Conference, Internet access, Enterprise Email/Calendaring, network, security, and Microsoft Office suite including Office 365.
  • Provide Tier-3 escalation support when needed.
  • Create and follow processes for installing and testing computer systems and peripherals.
  • Provide documentation, knowledge transfer, and training as assigned.
  • Make recommendations on hardware, software, and policy based on user needs and agency standards.
  • Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Maintain and provide design/architect level support for Client Management Systems - SCCM.
  • Manage and troubleshoot multiple physical Microsoft Windows Desktops.
  • Provide Windows Desktop administration for physical Windows hosts at various locations.
  • Perform proactive monitoring to identify potential issues and provide resolution.
  • Manage and troubleshoot all managed portable and virtual Microsoft Windows Desktops.
  • Maintain and provide design/architect level support for Client Management Systems - SCCM, Workspace One, and Nerdio Management Plane.
  • Provide support to resolve complex technical operational problems.
  • Maintain and update Azure Windows Virtual Desktops, host pools, builds/images/scripts.
  • Diagnose and document problem resolution, provide Root Cause Analysis if needed.
  • Continuously research, test, and implement improvements to the Windows Desktop Environment and related systems.
  • Assist in the maintenance of Windows desktops, including patches and security updates.

Key Skills:

  • At least 8+ years of expert proficiency with Client Management Systems like SCCM, Workspace One, and Nerdio.
  • Deep working knowledge and experience with Windows Software, Hardware, and System Administration.
  • Experience with vulnerability management and security compliance.

Position: Sr. Desktop Design Engineer Lev.2

Work Location: Remote (Must work on EST Time zone)

Duration: 12 months (35 hours per Week)

Resource Must provide Three (3) Professional References; & Valid Photo ID

Local or Nearby consultants will be given highest preference.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Provide Engineering Design level support of desktop and laptop computers and related technology and software.

Engineering includes evaluating new enterprise level hardware and software; application packing and installation for automated deployment; as well as testing of computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines.

Activities require interaction with application software and operating systems ensure they perform to agency specified standards.

Provide design engineering services on medium, high and complex issue for Desktops, VoIP support, telecommunication, Video Conference, Internet access, Enterprise Email/Calendaring, network, security, as well as the entire Microsoft Office suite including Office 365.

Provide Tier-3 escalation support when needed.

Follow and create process and procedures for Installing and testing computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines.

Provide documentation, knowledge transfer, and training as assigned.

Make recommendations on appropriate hardware, software, and policy based on user needs and agency standard, based availability of hardware/software, and/or budgetary considerations.

Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Maintain and provide design/architect level of support for Client Management Systems - SCCM, for all supported domains

Manage and troubleshoot multiple physical Microsoft Windows Desktops.

Provide Windows Desktop administration for physical Windows hosts at various locations.

Perform proactive monitoring to identify potential issues and/or problems and provide resolution.

Manage and troubleshoot all managed portable and virtual Microsoft Windows Desktops in addition to physical on-premises hosts

Maintain and provide design/architect level of support for Client Management Systems - SCCM (both), Workspace One (portable hosts), Nerdio Management Plane (Azure/virtual)

Provide support to resolve complex technical operational problems.

Provide Windows Desktop administration/management/support for all physical, portable, and virtual Windows hosts at various locations.

Maintain and update Azure Windows Virtual Desktops, host pools, builds/images/scripts, add virtual memory, CPU and storage when needed.

Diagnose and document problem resolution, provide Root Cause Analysis, if needed.

Continuously research, test, and implement improvements to OTI Windows Desktop Environment and related systems, policies, and components

Assist in the maintenance of the Windows desktops, including patches and security updates; upgrade and maintain hardware firmware; Application Lifecycle

Mandatory Skills:

At least 8+ years of expert proficiency with Client Management Systems like SCCM, Workspace One, and Nerdio.

Deep working knowledge and experience with Windows Software, Hardware, and System Administration.

Experience with vulnerability management and security compliance.

Working knowledge of policy management via GPO and CSP

Excellent troubleshooting skills / ability to investigate problems and perform RCA

Experience researching, designing, and implementing Windows Desktop Design standards
