Key Responsibilities:

• Implement Microsoft Best Practices for SQL database security
• Document Security Protocols including best practices, structure, changes, and cleanup efforts
• Establish Naming Conventions for security groups and roles
• Clean Orphaned Accounts in SQL to reduce vulnerabilities
• Review Service Accounts to assess and improve security properties
• Secure Passwords:
• Eliminate clear-text password storage
• Implement password encryption or Managed Service Accounts with rotating passwords
• Leverage Azure Password Vault as needed
• Custom Security Roles:
• Review existing roles and permissions
• Create custom roles to align with security policies
• Implement Database Auditing & Logging:
• Track user activity
• Detect and flag security incidents

Key Skills:

• Strong experience in SQL Server administration and security
• Hands-on experience with security auditing, orphaned account cleanup, and permissions management
• Knowledge of Microsoft Best Practices for SQL security
• Familiarity with Azure services, especially Azure Password Vault
• Experience creating and maintaining detailed documentation
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality of sensitive data
