Summary: The SQL Server DBA position is a long-term remote role requiring extensive experience in database management, particularly with MS SQL Server 2019 and above. The consultant will lead database design efforts, optimize software configuration processes, and automate database deployment functions while collaborating with development teams. Key responsibilities include ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory compliance in database strategies. The role also involves mentoring junior developers and engaging with enterprise DBAs and solution architects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with development teams to understand the full scope of applications and participate in the big picture design.
- Provide database design direction and work as a database design leader on large, complex projects.
- Ensure adherence to database best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Promote database methodologies and standards, ensuring DB standards are followed through design reviews.
- Design and implement a framework for automation of database change (schema changes) deployments with releases and integrate database change deployments with CI/CD pipelines.
- Devise strategy and engage with enterprise DBAs & solution architects to define & execute database strategy.
- Ensure that data strategies and architectures are in regulatory compliance.
- Support and assist the development team in the testing, tuning, and implementation of database applications.
- Train & mentor front-end database developers and Oracle DBAs.
- Lead and administer Oracle in non-production environments.
Key Skills:
- 7+ years of technical knowledge and experience with relational database solutions (MS SQL Server 2019 and above).
- Significant experience with database design & data modeling, performance analysis, advanced query writing, optimization, and scripting.
- Experience in software configuration process optimization, pipeline design, build & release automation.
- Knowledge of TFS, Azure DevOps, Git, Liquibase, Jenkins, and automation frameworks.
- Ability to automate database deployment functions and work extensively with DevOps engineers.
- Knowledge in Information Management Practice is a plus.

Deep technical experience working with relational database solutions (MS SQL Server 2019 and above).
Significant experience with database design & data modeling, performance analysis, advanced query writing, optimization, and scripting.
Significant experience in Software configuration process optimization, Pipeline Design, Build & Release Automation.
Knowledge with TFS, Azure DevOps, Git, Liquibase, Jenkins and automation frameworks.
Ability to automate Database Deployment functions and work extensively with DevOPS engineer to seamlessly incorporate database release into the software development CI/CD pipelines.
