Summary: The SQL Developer role involves working with a major financial services organization on a significant migration project from a legacy system to a modern architecture. The position requires a strong background in software development, particularly in C#.Net and PL/SQL, to ensure a smooth transition and maintain system stability. The role is primarily remote with occasional office visits expected. The contract is inside IR35 and runs until December 2025, with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Re-engineer Oracle PL/SQL procedures into C# services and develop .NET components integrating with legacy PHP and new PostgreSQL systems.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to ensure functional parity and identify enhancement opportunities.
- Contribute to the design of a hybrid architecture enabling phased migration and long-term scalability.
- Leverage AI-assisted tools to analyze, translate, and optimize legacy code for modern platforms.
- Maintain system stability during migration by supporting BAU operations, conducting code reviews, and contributing to testing and documentation.
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience in .NET/C# development.
- Strong understanding of PL/SQL.
- Proven experience in complex migration of legacy systems.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and SQL dialect differences is desirable.

This role will be working on a large and complex migration from a legacy system onto a modern architecture – ensuring a smooth transition to the new platform. They are looking for someone who has a strong background in software development who has also worked on large scale migrations. Moreover, someone with a wide range of technical skills in C#.Net and Oracle (PL/SQL). This is a chance to join an established organisation in a remote position with only ad hoc office visits expected once or twice a quarter.
