Summary: This role is for a Senior SQL DBA responsible for managing and optimizing large-scale SQL Server environments within a global enterprise. The position involves addressing complex database challenges and contributing to infrastructure strategy within a high-performing SQL team. The role is remote and offers a competitive market rate. It is classified as outside IR35 for a duration of 6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day to day administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of enterprise SQL Server environments, ensuring 24/7 availability.
- Lead infrastructure planning, including capacity management, backup/recovery strategy, and high availability solutions.
- Implement performance improvements across SQL databases, leveraging tools and techniques for optimisation, security, and scalability.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, ensuring compliance with SOX audit requirements.
- Advise senior stakeholders on database solutions and contribute to enterprise-level design and implementation.
- Support production and lower environments, ensuring stability, resilience, and business continuity.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a Senior SQL DBA in enterprise scale environments.
- Expertise in SQL Server installation, configuration, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery solutions (Always On Availability Groups, clustering, log shipping, mirroring).
- Solid understanding of capacity planning, system design, and performance monitoring tools.
- Experience supporting High Availability Groups.
- Experience with SQL Replication.
- Knowledge of DPA for performance monitoring and optimisation.
- Experience with SolarWinds for database and server monitoring.
- Familiarity with SQL Century for database management.
