Summary: The SQL Server DBA role is a 100% remote position based in Oakland, CA, requiring a seasoned professional with extensive experience in SQL Server management. The candidate will be responsible for managing complex database systems, collaborating with project managers, and ensuring adherence to company standards. The position emphasizes strong communication skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Senior SQL Server DBA is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assignments are based on extensive knowledge of concepts, principles or practices in a specific discipline, field or area of expertise, and require seasoned, experienced-based judgment in applying and adapting techniques.
  • Collaborates with Project Manager on complex project timelines, identifying critical path, resource estimates, risks, and dependencies.
  • Exercises independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance with broad scope and high complexity.
  • Follows and collaborates on existing database standards and technologies.
  • Frequently demonstrates advanced knowledge and technical competence.
  • Enforce company change control, patch management and information security standards and procedures.
  • Collaborate and consult with other DBAs.
  • Manage work according to criteria of costs, scheduling, and functional and technical performance.
  • Maintain open and honest communications with clients, team mates and management for purposes of providing ongoing, timely status reporting.
  • Communicate status, issues and concerns in both written and oral formats.
  • Good Oral and Written Communication.
  • Good practice for maintaining reliability of the database systems.
  • Manage Workload/Time Management.
  • Adhere to Company Policies and Compliance.

Key Skills:

  • Extensive experience with SQL Server Always On Availability Groups.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Senior SQL Server DBA.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, Database Mirroring and Windows clustering.
  • Experience with SSIS.
  • Experience with migrations and upgrades of SQL Server databases.
  • Experience with performance tuning and optimization of queries and databases.
  • Experience with PowerShell and T-SQL.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
