Summary: The role of Database Administrator (AWS DocumentDB / MongoDB) involves supporting the transformation of an e-commerce platform into an AWS-native environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Own the administration, migration, and optimisation of MongoDB environments into AWS DocumentDB
- Manage and maintain DocumentDB clusters, ensuring high availability, resilience, security, and operational stability
- Assess, troubleshoot, and remediate MongoDB to DocumentDB compatibility gaps
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing DocumentDB environments aligned with AWS best practices
- Lead database migration activities using AWS DMS and related tooling where required
Key Skills:
- 8–10+ years’ experience as a Database Administrator / Database Engineer with strong NoSQL database expertise
- Deep hands-on experience administering AWS DocumentDB in production environments
- Strong MongoDB administration experience, including configuration, replication, backup/recovery, monitoring, optimisation, and troubleshooting
- Strong AWS knowledge across core infrastructure and database services
- Strong understanding of DocumentDB limitations, compatibility considerations, and operational best practices

We’re seeking an experienced Database Administrator (AWS DocumentDB / MongoDB) on a contract basis to support the transformation and modernisation of a high-profile e-commerce platform into a new AWS-native environment. This role will focus on the administration, migration, optimisation, security, and ongoing operational performance of AWS DocumentDB, supporting the transition from legacy MongoDB environments into a scalable, secure, and fully supported cloud-native database platform. This is a hands-on DBA role suited to someone with deep expertise in DocumentDB and MongoDB administration, strong AWS platform knowledge, and proven experience managing and migrating large-scale NoSQL database environments.
Person Requirements
- 8–10+ years’ experience as a Database Administrator / Database Engineer with strong NoSQL database expertise
