Summary: The SQL Database Administrator role is a contract position focused on building and automating AWS RDS infrastructure for a major M&A technology programme. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SQL Server DBA tasks and AWS engineering, particularly in migrating and modernizing SQL Server environments. This hands-on role emphasizes automation, consistency, and operational excellence within a high-profile e-commerce data warehouse platform. The position requires strong technical skills in Infrastructure as Code and modern CI/CD practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build and deploy AWS RDS infrastructure using AWS CDK
- Create Infrastructure as Code solutions in Typescript, Python or Java
- Automate infrastructure and database deployments through Jenkins and GitLab CI/CD pipelines
- Lead SQL Server migration and upgrade activities into AWS RDS
- Configure and manage AWS DMS migration processes where required
Key Skills:
- 10+ years’ experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA
- Strong AWS experience, particularly: AWS RDS, AWS CDK
- Experience migrating SQL Server workloads to AWS RDS using AWS DMS
- Proficiency in Typescript, Python or Java
- Experience creating and deploying AWS RDS infrastructure through CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitLab

SQL Server DBA Contract - Remote 1st - £425 per day - 6 months initial contract
We’re looking for a highly experienced SQL Server DBA with strong AWS engineering and Infrastructure as Code expertise to join a major M&A technology programme. This role is heavily focused on building and automating AWS RDS infrastructure using AWS CDK and modern CI/CD practices, alongside leading SQL Server migration and modernisation activities. You’ll play a key role in designing, deploying and migrating enterprise-scale SQL Server environments into AWS RDS, helping modernise a high-profile e-commerce data warehouse platform while driving automation, consistency and operational excellence. This is a hands-on contract role suited to someone who combines deep SQL Server DBA capability with strong AWS platform engineering experience.
