Summary: The SQL Database Administrator at Equiniti will oversee the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of SQL Server RDBMS systems to ensure the availability of corporate applications. This role requires strong technical skills and excellent communication abilities, with opportunities for advancement into team leadership. The position is primarily hands-on, focusing on operational readiness and support for development teams. The role is offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to production systems.
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, ensuring high performance, availability, and security.
  • Apply data modelling techniques to support development and implementation efforts.
  • Independently analyse, solve, and correct issues in real time.
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
  • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
  • Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems as needed.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
  • Share technical expertise and provide mentorship to peers and team members.

Key Skills:

  • 10 years of MS SQL Server Administration experience.
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO).
  • Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models.
  • Knowledge of Clustering, High Availability (HA), and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
  • Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible, team player with a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to organize and plan work independently.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment and multi-task effectively.
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications are a plus.
  • A working knowledge of Redgate SQL monitor.
