Summary: The role of Senior Cloud Architect/Solutions Architect focuses on leading technical design for cross-cloud data integration and enterprise AI platform architecture, specifically utilizing Azure and AWS. This hands-on position requires extensive expertise in network security, data ingestion patterns, and AI governance frameworks. The architect will oversee two main streams: connecting Azure Databricks to AWS RDS and designing the architecture for a network-isolated Azure AI Foundry estate. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud security and AI platform design within enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical design for cross-cloud data ingestion between Azure Databricks and AWS RDS.
  • Design security measures including firewall configuration and network tunneling.
  • Conduct conceptual reviews of RDS databases to define ingestion scope.
  • Design enterprise architecture for Azure AI Foundry, ensuring network isolation.
  • Create custom Azure RBAC roles and scalable infrastructure ownership models.
  • Define repository layouts and deployment paths using Terraform tooling.
  • Address routing and connectivity constraints for isolated environments.

Key Skills:

  • Expertise in Azure Databricks and AWS RDS.
  • Knowledge of Azure Virtual Networks and Network Security Groups.
  • Experience with IPSec VPN and network tunneling.
  • Familiarity with LakeFlow Connect and Azure AI Foundry.
  • Proficiency in custom Azure RBAC and APIM.

Detailed Description From Employer:

Job Title: Senior Cloud Architect/Solutions Architect - Azure & AWS (Data & AI Platform)

Overview

We're looking for a senior architect to lead technical design across two high-impact workstreams spanning cross-cloud data integration and enterprise AI platform architecture. This is a hands-on design role requiring deep cross-cloud expertise, covering everything from network security and ingestion patterns to AI governance frameworks and infrastructure ownership models.

Stream 1 - Cross-Cloud Data Ingestion

You'll lead the technical design connecting an Azure Databricks estate to an AWS RDS data estate, both operating within highly secured, firewalled virtual networks with active network monitoring. Responsibilities include:

  • Security design across Firewall configuration, routing, and IPSec network tunnelling between cloud environments
  • Engineering the high-level LakeFlow Connect ingestion pattern
  • Conducting a high-level conceptual review of RDS databases, tables, and their business use to define ingestion scope

Stream 2 - Azure AI Foundry (v2) Enterprise Architecture

You'll design the high-level enterprise architecture for a network-isolated Azure AI Foundry estate, covering hosted agents and the safe deployment of AI use cases across environments. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing custom Azure RBAC roles and networking architecture for a fully network-isolated estate
  • Building a scalable infrastructure ownership model aligned with the Microsoft Well-Architected Framework (WAF)
  • Defining repository layouts, deployment paths, and Terraform tooling decisions
  • Working with the components of the Foundry Citadel Platform (FCP), Microsoft's layered reference architecture for AI governance
  • Designing for redundancy and scale using APIM and App Services, including Teams integration
  • Solving routing and connectivity constraints unique to a fully isolated estate

Required Azure & AWS Resource Knowledge

Azure Databricks, AWS RDS, Azure Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups/Azure Firewall, IPSec VPN/network tunnelling, routing, LakeFlow Connect, Azure AI Foundry, custom Azure RBAC, APIM, App Services, Microsoft Teams integration, Terraform/IaC, and the Microsoft Well-Architected Framework.

Ideal Candidate

A senior architect comfortable operating across both cloud security and AI platform design, with strong experience in network-isolated enterprise environments, IaC tooling, and governance frameworks for emerging AI workloads.
