Solution Architect - Apigee X/Google Cloud

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect with extensive expertise in Apigee X and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to lead the architecture and delivery of enterprise API management solutions.

The successful candidate will provide end-to-end architectural leadership across API governance, Advanced API Security, Cloud Run integration and workload-specific environment separation. This role requires strong technical knowledge alongside the ability to engage with platform engineering, security, IAM, networking and operational stakeholders within a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end solution architecture for Apigee X and GCP API management capabilities.
• Define scalable, secure and resilient architecture patterns across API hub, Advanced API Security and Cloud Run integration.
• Design environment separation strategies for AI, file-upload and WebSocket workloads.
• Develop solution architecture documentation, high-level designs and technical roadmaps.
• Define API security architecture incorporating OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, mTLS, IAM and certificate management.
• Establish integration patterns between Apigee X and GCP services, including private connectivity.
• Collaborate with security, networking, DevOps and engineering teams to resolve architectural dependencies.
• Review technical designs to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security and compliance standards.
• Oversee migration and onboarding strategies for existing APIs and consumers.
• Support delivery planning, architecture governance, technical assurance and production readiness.
• Ensure appropriate monitoring, observability, resilience and operational support models are incorporated into the solution.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Extensive experience as a Solution Architect delivering enterprise API management solutions.
• Significant hands-on technical knowledge of Apigee X in production environments.
• Strong architectural experience across Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with API hub, API governance and Advanced API Security.
• Strong understanding of Apigee environments, environment groups, API proxies, policies and deployment models.
• Experience designing private connectivity between Apigee X and Cloud Run or other GCP workloads.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, DNS, IAM, service accounts, TLS and load balancing.
• Knowledge of Terraform, infrastructure as code and CI/CD deployment strategies.
• Experience designing API security solutions using OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT and mTLS.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical teams and manage complex architectural dependencies.
• Experience delivering solutions within large enterprise or regulated environments.

Desirable Experience

• API migration experience from Apigee Edge, MuleSoft or IBM API Connect.
• Experience with Backstage, Harness, GitHub or Google Cloud Build.
• Experience with GKE, Anthos Service Mesh or Istio.
• Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or Apigee certification.
• Financial services or banking experience.
