Summary: The role of Senior Tester involves leading testing efforts for applications within a public sector organization undergoing digital transformation. The position requires collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure software quality and compliance with accessibility standards. The candidate must possess active SC Clearance and have experience in test automation within an agile environment. The role is remote and offers a contract duration of 3-6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing requirements and specifications; defining test conditions, creating test scripts for both manual and automation execution using test tooling solutions.
- Raising and managing defects and prioritizing them based on defect priority and severity using defect management tools.
- Collaboratively working with the team and outside of the team to ensure products are accessibility compliant and meet departmental standards.
- Sharing best practices and actively networking within and outside of the organization to improve consistency of approach.
- Evaluating software applications to identify bugs and ensure optimal functionality.
- Executing test cases to detect software defects and enhance usability.
- Developing and maintaining test plans, test scripts, and test reports.
- Ensuring software meets user requirements and performance expectations.
Key Skills:
- Experience testing within an agile environment with a proven track record of producing and maintaining test automation scripts in a CICD environment.
- Proficient in Java/Selenium and preferably have experience with Playwright or Cypress.
- Strong understanding of CICD approaches and tooling in AWS and Git.
- Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision.
- Capability to analyze situations to ensure UIs and APIs are tested successfully, including non-functional testing.
- Comfortable working with technical and specialist stakeholders.
- Active SC Clearance.

Senior Tester
Our public sector client is looking for a Senior Tester to join them in the midst of a digital transformation and lead on testing applications to support the organisation’s services and collaborate with the delivery teams, including both technical and non technical stakeholders. The client is looking for someone with a bit of Lead experience.
You will be responsible for;
- Reviewing requirements and specifications; defining test conditions, creating test scripts for both manual and automation execution using test tooling solution e.g. Test Complete.
- Raising and managing defects and help prioritise them based on defect priority and severity using defect management tools e.g. JIRA
- Collaboratively working together with the team, and outside of the team, to ensure products are accessibility compliant and meet departmental standards.
- Sharing best practice, actively networking within and outside of the organisation to share and improve consistency of approach and, taking ideas and input from others, whilst supporting others with their work delivery.
- Evaluate software applications to identify bugs and ensure optimal functionality
- Execute test cases to detect software defects and enhance usability.
- Develop and maintain test plans, test scripts, and test reports.
- Ensure software meets user requirements and performance expectations.
Required Experience;
- Experience testing within an agile environment with proven track record of producing, maintaining comprehensive robust and reliable test automation scripts in a CICD environment from business requirements, documenting defects & highlight risk, offering solutions and monitoring through to resolution.
- Proficient in Java/Selenium and preferably have some experience of Playwright or Cypress
- Strong understanding of CICD approaches and tooling in AWS and Git.
- A proactive self-starter and able to work remotely with minimal instructions/ supervision.
- The ability to analyse a situation to identify what is required to ensure UIs and APIs are tested successfully including Non-functional testing.
- Capability of working comfortably with technical and specialist stakeholders and act as a facilitator to elicit information from them which may need escalating.
