Software Engineer

Summary: We are looking for multiple Senior-Lead Python Developers with expertise in FHIR/HL7 standards and Riak to join a remote team based in the UK. The role involves developing healthcare applications that enhance patient outcomes and interoperability. Candidates should have a strong background in Python development and experience with distributed databases. This position offers a chance to work on innovative healthcare solutions with occasional travel to Leeds.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain Python-based applications that process and integrate healthcare data.
• Work with FHIR/HL7 standards to build APIs and data exchange solutions.
• Design and manage scalable, distributed data storage using Riak.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineers, product managers, and clinicians.
• Ensure code quality, documentation, and adherence to best practices in a highly regulated domain.
• Troubleshoot issues and contribute to continuous improvement of system architecture and performance.

Key Skills:

• Proven Python development experience (3+ years ideally).
• Strong knowledge of FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) and/or HL7 standards.
• Experience working with Riak or other distributed databases.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
• Experience working in healthcare, HealthTech, or related data-sensitive environments.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a remote or agile setting.
• Desirable: Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
• Understanding of data privacy and security in healthcare (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.).
• Background in integrating with EHR/EMR systems.
