Summary: The Snr Database Engineer role involves providing proactive database support and maintenance for critical production services, primarily using Oracle and SQL Server technologies. The position requires expertise in database lifecycle management, troubleshooting, and performance optimization, along with collaboration with other teams to resolve operational issues. This is a 6-month remote contract role, classified as inside IR35, starting as soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide effective database support and maintenance for critical production services.
• Manage database lifecycle activities including provisioning, deletion, patching, upgrading, and migrating.
• Conduct back-up and recovery, monitoring and alerting, change and incident management.
• Troubleshoot and solve database-related problems, ensuring performance tuning and optimization.
• Implement disaster recovery strategies and improve processes through automation and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with teams and escalate issues to Lead Database Engineers as necessary.

Key Skills:

• Strong understanding and experience in database administration for Oracle and SQL Server in a production environment.
• Analytical troubleshooting skills for production issues with recommendations for resolution.
• Experience with database builds, patching, migrations, and upgrades.
• Knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recovery methods, including Oracle RAC and SQL Server Always On.
• Database performance tuning and optimization skills.
• Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager and various operating systems (Oracle/Red Hat Linux, Windows, AIX, Solaris).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and collaborative behaviors.
• Awareness of ITIL Service Management processes.
