Summary: The SmartBear Software Test Consultant role is a short-term contract position focused on establishing automated testing and load-testing capabilities using SmartBear tools, specifically TestComplete and ReadyAPI. The consultant will be responsible for configuring and optimizing these tools, integrating automation with CI/CD processes, and providing documentation and knowledge transfer to the internal QA team. This position is ideal for a seasoned professional who can quickly assess the environment and deliver a working automation framework. The engagement is expected to last approximately 3 to 4 weeks and is fully remote.
Key Responsibilities:
- Experienced Software Test Automation Consultant to quickly establish automated testing and load-testing capabilities using the SmartBear suite of tools.
- Specifically TestComplete and ReadyAPI. This is a short-term engagement (approximately 4-6 weeks) focused on setup, configuration, and initial automation enablement.
- Ideal for a seasoned consultant who can step in immediately, assess the environment, and deliver a working automation framework.
- Configure and optimize TestComplete for UI and regression test automation.
- Set up ReadyAPI for API and load testing based on existing test cases.
- Integrate automation with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
- Build reusable, maintainable test templates and execution workflows.
- Provide documentation, demos, and limited knowledge transfer to the internal QA team.
- Ensure automation runs reliably in the client’s environment with minimal manual intervention.
Key Skills:
- 5+ years of QA automation experience, including framework setup and scripting.
- Proven, hands-on expertise with SmartBear TestComplete and ReadyAPI (including SoapUI and LoadUI modules).
- Strong scripting ability in VBScript, Python, or JavaScript for TestComplete.
- Experience designing and executing load tests and API test suites.
- Familiarity with CI/CD integration and test reporting dashboards.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills; able to work independently with limited direction.
