Summary: We are seeking a senior ServiceNow Technical Architect with over 10 years of IT experience to lead the architecture, design, and delivery of enterprise ServiceNow solutions for a California state agency. The role involves owning the end-to-end platform vision and serving as the senior technical authority throughout the project lifecycle. Familiarity with public sector ServiceNow delivery and California Department of Technology project frameworks is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and own the overall ServiceNow platform architecture, including instance strategy, data model, CMDB design, and scalability/performance approach
  • Translate business and regulatory requirements into scalable, maintainable designs aligned to ServiceNow best practices and state standards
  • Architect solutions across ServiceNow modules (ITSM, ITOM, ITBM/SPM, HRSD, CSM, GRC/IRM, SecOps) based on agency needs
  • Design and oversee integrations between ServiceNow and external/legacy state systems using REST/SOAP, IntegrationHub, MID Server, and web services
  • Establish platform governance, development standards, and DevOps/release practices (update set/app repo strategy, CI/CD, instance lifecycle)
  • Lead technical design reviews; provide hands-on guidance on Flow Designer, Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, ACLs, and UI/Service Portal development
  • Define CMDB strategy, discovery, service mapping, and data quality/normalization approaches
  • Define data migration, conversion, and transformation strategies for legacy-to-ServiceNow transitions
  • Document conceptual and detailed architecture, security model, and technical specifications
  • Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, developers, QA, and control agencies throughout the SDLC
  • Support procurement and solution-evaluation activities, including reviewing SOWs, technical requirements, and vendor proposals
  • Provide technical leadership through testing, UAT, deployment, and post-go-live stabilization; mentor and transfer knowledge to state staff

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (equivalent additional experience may substitute)
  • 10+ years of IT experience, with 5+ years architecting and implementing solutions on the ServiceNow platform
  • Deep expertise in ServiceNow platform architecture, data model, CMDB, and the platform's scalability and performance considerations
  • Strong hands-on background in ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript/Glide), Flow Designer, Business Rules, Script Includes, and ACL/security configuration
