Summary: The ServiceNow IT Asset Management & CMDB Specialist will lead a project focused on cleaning and improving the accuracy of IT asset data within ServiceNow. This hands-on role requires direct engagement with various teams and the ability to manage the project from assessment to remediation. The specialist will be responsible for executing a remediation roadmap and providing weekly status updates to the client. Strong technical skills in ServiceNow CMDB and Discovery are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Run an initial assessment of the current CMDB and asset data to identify gaps, duplicates, inconsistencies, and quality issues.
- Build and execute a remediation roadmap covering processes, data sources, tooling, and integrations.
- Set up and tune ServiceNow Discovery MID Servers, probes, and patterns to accurately populate the CMDB.
- Ensure Identification & Reconciliation (IReconciler) rules resolve conflicting data sources cleanly.
- Build out and maintain the CMDB/CSDM structure.
- Partner with various teams to validate asset ownership, lifecycle status, and configuration accuracy across IT assets.
- Drive the overall project and provide clear weekly status updates.
Key Skills:
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) required.
- Strong, proven hands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, MID Servers, and CMDB/CSDM.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and tune Discovery probes and patterns.
- Working knowledge of Identification & Reconciliation (IReconciler) rules.
- Experience cleaning up and improving CMDB and asset data at enterprise scale.
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, for working with large data sets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to run status calls and coordinate across multiple teams.
- Reliable overlap with US business hours.
- Attention to detail and the ability to drive a project independently.
- Nice to Have: ServiceNow CIS certifications in Discovery and/or Data Foundations (CMDB and CSDM).
- Experience with Asset Management / Hardware Asset Management (HAM).
- Experience with other asset tools such as Intune, Kaseya, Flexera.
- ServiceNow CIS certifications in Service Mapping or Event Management.

We're looking for a hands-on ServiceNow CMDB and Discovery specialist to lead a project to clean up and improve the accuracy of IT asset data in ServiceNow. This is the single point of contact for the engagement you'll own the work end to end, from the initial assessment through remediation, and report status directly to the client each week. You'll work closely with the client's Infrastructure, Network, Security, Procurement, and Support teams.
This is a delivery role, not an advisory one. You should be comfortable getting into the platform and doing the work yourself.
What You'll Do
Run an initial assessment of the current CMDB and asset data find the gaps, duplicates, inconsistencies, and quality issues.
Build and execute a remediation roadmap covering processes, data sources, tooling, and integrations.
Set up and tune ServiceNow Discovery MID Servers, probes, and patterns to populate the CMDB accurately.
