Summary: The ServiceNow CMDB Lead is responsible for the comprehensive design, implementation, and maintenance of the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB), ensuring data accuracy and integrity. This role involves defining governance and compliance frameworks, managing integrations with various infrastructures, and collaborating with multiple teams to maintain a unified configuration data strategy. The position also includes providing technical leadership and driving automation initiatives to enhance CMDB reliability. The role can be performed remotely or from Virginia, USA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end design, implementation, and maintenance of the ServiceNow CMDB to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Define and enforce CMDB governance, data quality standards, and compliance frameworks aligned with ITIL principles.
  • Manage discovery and service mapping integrations with on-prem and cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure, VMware, etc.).
  • Oversee the integration of CMDB with Incident, Change, Problem, Asset, and ITOM processes to enable service awareness.
  • Develop and optimize CI classes, attributes, and relationship models based on organizational requirements.
  • Collaborate with architecture, infrastructure, and application teams to maintain a unified configuration data strategy.
  • Implement data normalization, reconciliation, and duplicate CI prevention mechanisms using ServiceNow Discovery and Identification Reconciliation (IRE).
  • Create dashboards and reports to monitor CMDB health, completeness, and compliance metrics.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to CMDB administrators and ServiceNow developers.
  • Support platform upgrades, audits, and reviews ensuring minimal impact on CMDB integrity.
  • Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance CMDB reliability and usability.
