Summary: The role of Service Design Consultant involves leading the design of user-centered services for government projects, primarily in a remote capacity. Candidates with active SC clearance are preferred due to the urgency of the role. The position requires strong experience in service design within the public sector and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The consultant will shape digital and non-digital journeys to meet user needs and policy intent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design of end-to-end, user-centred services.
- Shape how digital and non-digital journeys work together to meet user needs and policy intent.
- Facilitate workshops and co-design sessions with a range of stakeholders.
- Produce clear service blueprints, journey maps, and other visual artefacts.
- Map complex services, ecosystems, and current-state processes.
- Work in multidisciplinary teams advocating for user-centred, inclusive design.
Key Skills:
- Strong experience as a Service Designer within the public sector.
- Demonstrable work with Government Digital Services (GDS) or similar government digital environments.
- Experience of leading end-to-end service design across digital and non-digital journeys.
- Ability to produce clear service blueprints, journey maps, and other visual artefacts.
- Confident facilitating workshops and co-design sessions with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and advocating for user-centred, inclusive design.

Are you an experienced Service Design Consultant with background working for the public sector and looking for new projects?
I have a number of opportunities with a well-known consultantcy on some government projects. The roles would be mainly remote with some flexibility to travel to different locations for User Research activities.
Due to urgency and nature of the role, candidates who hold active SC clearance would be preferred.
You will lead the design of end-to-end, user-centred services, shaping how digital and non-digital journeys work together to meet user needs and policy intent.

- Strong experience as a Service Designer within the public sector
- Demonstrable work with Government Digital Services (GDS) or similar government digital environments
