Summary: The Server Engineer role focuses on providing support for a global server estate, managing a significant number of Windows and Linux/Unix servers both on-premise and in the cloud. The position emphasizes reducing software technical debt and requires strong communication and stakeholder management skills. The successful candidate will also be responsible for software installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting. This is a fully remote position with an initial contract duration of six months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support across the global server estate, managing Windows and Linux/Unix servers.
  • Reduce software technical debt by analyzing inventory data and proposing actions.
  • Perform software installs, removals, and upgrades following ITIL change processes.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and incident/problem management related to tech debt reduction.
  • Meet service level objectives and report on progress to server owners.
  • Communicate technical details effectively with stakeholders at various levels.
  • Follow change processes and demonstrate proactivity in problem-solving.

Key Skills:

  • Extensive experience with Windows Server and Red Hat Linux server environments.
  • Experience with automation tools (Windows/Tanium, Linux/Ansible) is beneficial.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to think on your feet.
  • Experience in software/application management.
  • ITIL foundation knowledge preferred.
  • AWS experience and VMware knowledge are advantageous.
  • Incident and problem management skills.
  • Project delivery skills.

Salary (Rate): £450
