Summary: The Senior Tax Technology Consultant will lead the optimization of the Oracle Fusion Avalara platform for state estimated taxes, focusing on automation, controls, and compliance visibility. This role requires extensive experience with Oracle Fusion and tax processes, ensuring accurate tax calculations and effective integration with Avalara. The consultant will also be responsible for monitoring system health, refining configurations, and providing recommendations to leadership. Strong analytical skills and collaboration with various departments are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- 5+ years with Oracle Fusion (or Oracle EBS) financials and tax, including integration with a third-party tax engine such as Avalara.
- Hands-on experience with indirect/state tax processes in an ERP + tax engine environment.
- Expert in end-to-end state estimated tax process using Avalara embedded in Oracle Fusion (calculation through filing).
- Validate tax calculations and data flows between Oracle Fusion and Avalara; design and run reconciliation routines.
- Monitor integration health, investigate exceptions, and resolve root causes across configuration, data, and interfaces.
- Review and refine Avalara and Oracle tax configurations, including content, rules, and business unit / jurisdiction setups.
- Develop and maintain audit-ready documentation for tax logic, controls, and key reports.
- Translate system behavior, risks, and issues into clear options and recommendations for the CFO, Controller, and Tax leadership.
- Recommend and implement enhancements to controls, reporting, and dashboards for state estimated tax compliance.
- Partner with Tax, Finance, and IT to support releases, testing, and change management impacting tax calculation and filing.
- Strong skills in data validation and reconciliations using Excel and standard Oracle reporting (SQL a plus).
