Detailed Description From Employer:

We are seeking an independent senior technical specialist to provide systems development, data translation and analytical services on a specialist data programme.

The work involves extracting and validating data held across a wide variety of Legacy and modern database estates. Environments vary enormously between sites from late-1990s/early-2000s Unix/AIX hierarchical database systems through to modern Windows Server relational infrastructure. You will navigate both worlds, guaranteeing complete data integrity and structural validation without altering the underlying data context.

This is a hands-on, autonomous role inside secure client environments. It demands genuine curiosity and the ability to dive into bespoke, poorly documented proprietary systems and deliver.

Candidates will align with the following architectural profile:

  • Windows & relational data
  • RDBMS depth Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL
  • Windows Server fluency (security, networking, permissions)
  • C# and native .NET for secure extraction and transformation Middleware

You must have:

  • Proven ability to translate data between relational tables and hierarchical globals
  • Interchangeable fluency with JDBC and ODBC across different database engines
  • Code-level Java literacy able to alter functional logic, not just configuration
  • Active ICO registration and strict GDPR and information governance compliance
  • Full operational autonomy within a secure VDI (eg VMware/Omnissa Horizon, BeyondTrust/Bomgar), identifying architectural risks and delivering remediation without day-to-day oversight

Outside IR35. Remote, with all work conducted inside the secure client environment.

Please do not apply if:

  • You work at configuration level only and cannot make code-level changes
  • You need day-to-day direction or top cover to deliver
  • You are uncomfortable in bespoke, undocumented Legacy environments
  • You cannot evidence hands-on depth in the above
