Summary: The Senior Staff Research Engineer role involves developing innovative techniques for cyber threat intelligence and collaborating with government partners to combat malicious online activities. The position requires expertise in data manipulation, software development, and mentoring junior staff while contributing to national cybersecurity efforts. The engineer will also engage in vulnerability research and operationalize insights for customer protection. This is a remote position based in the USA for a duration of 6 months.

Key Responsibilities:

• Protect customers against malicious actors on the Internet
• Develop novel techniques for understanding the Internet and characterizing data for cyber threat intelligence
• Collaborate with US government partners in investigating and reporting malicious cyber activity
• Aid in developing software for threat hunting and vulnerability discovery
• Grow the library of datasets and integrate new capabilities into tools
• Build prototypes that generate insights for cyber threat hunting
• Discover emergent properties of the Internet
• Mentor junior staff and share best practices with a multidisciplinary team

Key Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline
• GCTI, GPEN, OSCP, CEH certifications are a plus
• Intermediate proficiency in manipulating large datasets and SQL
• Intermediate proficiency in Python, Go, and/or Rust
• High-level understanding of computer networks and Internet protocols
• Experience in data collection, analysis, and interpretation
• Knowledge of intelligence gathering methods and procedures
• Broad knowledge of nation-state linked APT groups
• Knowledge of the Intelligence Community and federal cyber centers
• Experience with tools like nmap, nessus, and network sniffers
• Ability to communicate complex subjects to technical and non-technical audiences
• Eligibility for a security clearance, active Top Secret preferred
