Role: Senior SQL Server DBA
Location: Remote (CST and MST Candidates)
Contract to Hire
Responsible for administration, performance, availability, and security of Microsoft SQL Server environments supporting production workloads.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage production SQL Server environments, including provisioning, patching, and upgrades
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery (e.g., AlwaysOn, failover clustering, log shipping)
- Perform backup, restore, and recovery operations
- Monitor and optimize database performance, queries, and indexing
- Support application releases and validate database changes
- Implement security controls, access management, and compliance standards
- Perform capacity planning and forecasting
- Troubleshoot incidents and drive root cause resolution
- Support Azure SQL / cloud-based deployments where applicable
Required Skills
- Microsoft SQL Server (on-prem + Azure SQL)
- T-SQL, query tuning, indexing strategies
- HA/DR technologies (AlwaysOn, replication, clustering)
- Backup/recovery tools and processes
- Monitoring and performance tools
- Familiarity with SSIS, SSRS
