Summary: The Senior SQL Optimisation Engineer role involves enhancing and optimizing Microsoft SQL queries for a leading professional services client on a fully remote contract basis. The position requires strong expertise in SQL Server and application performance, with a specific focus on candidates experienced in Azure Cloud. The engineer will collaborate with technical teams to implement changes and document best practices for SQL performance tuning.
Key Responsibilities:
- SQL Server Optimisation across the clients various applications.
- Identify any performance issues and suggest relevant solutions.
- Work closely with other technical teams to approve changes and successful integration into production.
- Document future best practise for SQL performance tuning.
- Monitor and communicate performance improvements and system impacts.
Key Skills:
- Must have experience with Azure SQL or other cloud-based database platforms.
- Expert Level skills with Microsoft SQL Server 2016 and above.
- Strong T-SQL skills including query writing and optimisation.
- Knowledge and understanding execution plans and indexing strategies.
- Experience working with SQL Profiler, Extended Events, and Query Store.
- Knowledge and experience of database schema design and normalisation.
- Experience with Load testing tools and performance benchmarking.
- Knowledge and understanding application architectures and how SQL performance impacts.

Senior SQL Optimisation Engineer - £500 - £600pd Fully Remote from UK. JNC are working closely with a leading professional services client that is looking for a Senior SQL Optimisation Engineer to join the business on a fully remote contract basis. The contract will focus on improving, tuning and optimising Microsoft SQL queries across the clients application estate. The ideal person for this role will have a strong expertise in SQL Server as well as application performance. Only candidates who have experience with Azure Cloud will be considered.
