Summary: The Senior SQL / Data Modeller will lead the design and implementation of data models for global Finance and HR domains, ensuring data quality and consistency. This role involves collaboration with various teams and stakeholders to translate requirements into effective data structures. The position requires expert-level SQL skills and a strong background in data warehousing and analytics engineering. Occasional travel to a client site near Heathrow is expected, while the role is primarily remote.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of robust SQL data models, focusing on dimensional and semantic modelling.
- Build and maintain slowly changing dimensions (Type 1, 2, etc.) to enable accurate historical reporting.
- Conduct data profiling and transformation to improve data reliability and usability across the global platform.
- Collaborate with Data Architects and Engineers to integrate models within Snowflake, Oracle, and AWS environments.
- Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, high-performing data structures.
- Document and maintain business rules, data quality checks, and transformation logic.
- Provide clear guidance on data best practices and drive adoption across Finance and HR teams.
Key Skills:
- Expert-level SQL skills - able to design, optimise, and troubleshoot complex queries at scale.
- Proven experience with data modelling and dimensional design, including SCD implementation.
- Proficiency in ERWIN, Sparx EA, or similar data modelling tools.
- Strong background in data warehousing and analytics engineering using platforms such as Snowflake, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with AWS, Power BI/Tableau, and modern ELT/ETL workflows.
- Ability to document and communicate data flows, CRUD matrices, and data lineage clearly.
- Comfortable working in Agile (Scrum/Kanban) environments, balancing speed with rigour.
