Summary: This role is for an AWS DevOps engineer with a focus on testing, responsible for maintaining critical national infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and structure a comprehensive test framework, including creating approaches and plans.
- Deliver functional and performance tests for software components within an AWS multi-account model.
- Work alongside client teams in a 3rd line capacity, supporting as required.
- Implement various development, testing, automation tools, and IT infrastructure.
- Manage stakeholders and external interfaces, ensuring effective communication.
- Define and set development, test, release, update, and support processes for DevOps operations.
- Review, verify, and validate software code developed in the project.
- Monitor processes for adherence and create new processes for improvement.
- Encourage and build automated processes wherever possible.
- Identify and deploy cybersecurity measures through vulnerability assessment and risk management.
- Coordinate incident management and root cause analysis.
- Mentor and guide team members, fostering continuous improvement.
- Monitor and measure customer experience and KPIs, reporting progress to management and customers.
Key Skills:
- Strong background in AWS and DevOps practices.
- Experience in testing, particularly with APIs.
- Proficiency in Confluence and Jira for documentation and project tracking.
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools and processes.
- Familiarity with technologies such as Vault, Consul, Kubernetes, and various AWS services.
- Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus and ELK.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Ansible, and/or Bash.

This is a pivotal role in maintaining critical national infrastructure where scalability and resilience are essential. We're looking for a highly skilled DevOps engineer with a strong background in testing (including APIs). The ideal candidate should be self-motivated and results-driven, capable of thriving in an Agile team. You'll need to be comfortable with Confluence for documentation and Jira for project tracking and story management.
Your main responsibility will be to develop and structure a comprehensive test framework. This includes creating approaches and plans, gaining approval for those approaches, and ultimately delivering a complex set of functional and performance tests for software components running within an AWS multi-account model. You will be working alongside client teams and supporting, as required, in a 3rd line capacity.
Key technologies you'll be working with include Vault, Consul, Kubernetes, various AWS services (Compute, Identity), Prometheus for monitoring, ELK, Jenkins for CI/CD, and scripting languages such as Python, Ansible, and/or Bash. Knowledge of proxies and firewalls, including Fortinet and Palo Alto, would be an advantage.
