Summary: The Senior Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer role is focused on hands-on development, platform administration, and data management within a digital retail environment. The position requires expertise in Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) to build customer journeys, manage data models, and ensure high-quality campaign execution. Collaboration across teams is essential to deliver personalized, scalable, and compliant marketing solutions. This is a remote position with a contract duration of over 12 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build journeys, automations, dynamic content, and transactional sends using Journey Builder, Automation Studio, AMPscript, SQL, and HTML/CSS
- Create and maintain reusable email templates, content blocks, and logic frameworks
- Ensure proper QA/testing, rendering, and tracking across devices and use cases
- Design and manage Data Extensions, Contact Builder data relationships, and segmentation strategies
- Enforce data retention policies, hygiene standards, and schema consistency
- Troubleshoot audience misfires, segmentation gaps, and syncing issues
- Administer SFMC business units, user roles, configurations, and platform settings
- Maintain integration settings and troubleshoot connection issues (FTP, APIs, data feeds)
- Monitor platform performance and health across journeys, automations, and triggered sends
- Support or co-manage data feeds and external integrations (e.g., Salesforce Core, Commerce Cloud, CDPs, product data)
- Use REST/SOAP APIs or automation activities to facilitate syncing and triggered campaigns
- Work with dev teams to ensure data flows align with campaign needs
- Contribute to development or optimization of a preference center or consent mechanism using CloudPages or external data sources
- Ensure opt-in/opt-out preferences sync across systems and support regulatory compliance (CAN-SPAM, GDPR, CCPA)
- Document technical implementations, logic frameworks, and naming conventions
- Contribute to process improvements, reusability efforts, and scalable development patterns
- Assist in mentoring junior team members or offshore developers when needed
Key Skills:
- 6+ years hands-on Salesforce Marketing Cloud experience
- Strong expertise in AMPscript, SQL, and SFMC modules: Journey Builder, Email Studio, Automation Studio
- Proven experience managing Data Extensions, relational data models, and contact schemas
- Comfortable acting as SFMC platform administrator, managing permissions, BUs, and configuration
- Familiar with APIs, external data feeds, FTPs, and SFMC integration flows
- Strong attention to detail, QA process, and documentation
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills across technical and marketing stakeholders
- Exposure to Salesforce Core (Sales/Service Cloud) or Salesforce Commerce Cloud (preferred)
- Familiarity with preference center setup or consent compliance workflows (preferred)
- Salesforce certifications (Developer, Consultant, or Email Specialist) (preferred)

- In this role, you'll build customer journeys, manage critical data models and integrations, and act as the system admin for our SFMC platform. You'll collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality, personalized campaigns that are scalable, compliant, and data-driven.
Key Responsibilities:
