Senior Research Expert - Technology and Policy (Contract)

Summary: The Senior Research Expert in Technology and Policy will lead a three-month research study focused on the technology and innovation landscape in a GCC market. This fully remote role requires a commitment of 2 to 3 days per week and involves shaping the research plan, designing research methods, and analyzing findings. Candidates must have extensive experience in research roles and a strong publication record. The position is contract-based, with a deadline for engagement in November 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

• Shape the research plan: analytical framework, taxonomy, indicators, and benchmarking approach
• Design and quality-assure research methods, instruments, and informant selection
• Analyse the assembled evidence and develop findings
• Validate rigour ahead of client review points and peer-review the principal deliverables
• Contribute to selected senior stakeholder interviews

Key Skills:

• 10+ years in research roles within academia, think tanks, research institutes, or research-led consultancies
• Publication record or authorship of published studies and reports
• Delivered ecosystem mapping, landscape analysis, or comparable policy or market studies for government or institutional clients
• Subject expertise in technology, digital economy, AI, or innovation policy research
• Research or advisory experience covering the UK, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, or Qatar
• Legally able to provide services as an independent contractor
• Doctoral degree (preferred)
• Arabic language proficiency (preferred)
