Summary: The Senior RAN Design Consultant role involves collaborating with Planning and Strategy teams to create high-level designs for 4G/5G radio systems within a UK-based telecommunications company. The position requires extensive knowledge of LTE and 5G technologies, as well as experience with Nokia RAN systems. This is a remote position with a focus on improving network performance and managing software features. The contract is initially for six months, starting in April 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Planning and Strategy teams to translate business requirements into relevant designs and produce HLDs as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other teams to identify performance issues and implement remedial measures to enhance network performance.
  • Provide input into the Software Drop Selection process for RAN vendors based on operational and design requirements.
  • Produce HLD, LLD & KPI documents for new RAN software in line with project requirements.
  • Analyze inputs from third-party performance benchmarking companies and take appropriate actions.
  • Identify areas for improvement in RAN software from a solution perspective.
  • Possess a full in-depth knowledge of LTE & 5G NR (NSA & SA) technologies.
  • Prior experience working on Nokia RAN is preferable.
  • Understand 4G/5G (NSA & SA) network architecture and software feature capabilities.
  • Manage 4G/5G RAN parameters in the live network.
  • Handle software/hardware feature testing/trialing in testbed and live environments.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in RAN/Nokia design with a background in communications.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a proven record in developing and presenting Technical Workshops.
  • Detailed understanding of 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies and functioning RAN networks.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software packages; network admin experience is ideal.
  • Experience with vendor management suites (e.g., NetACT) is ideal.
