Summary: A leading Independent IT Infrastructure and Services Consultancy is seeking a Senior Project Manager with expertise in International Data Centre or High-Performance Computing (HPC) projects. This remote position involves significant international travel and requires strong leadership and communication skills to manage complex projects effectively. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of project management experience, with a proven track record in delivering large-scale projects. The role is classified as inside IR35 and is a 6-month contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage large-scale International Data Centre or HPC projects, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
- Be accountable for the commercial outcomes of the project.
- Manage internal and external stakeholders to set and achieve expectations.
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for flawless project execution.
- Ensure resource availability and allocation.
- Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs.
- Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Report and escalate to management as needed.
- Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
- Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Delegate project tasks based on team members' strengths and experience.
- Track project performance to analyze the completion of goals.
- Use and develop leadership skills continually.
- Attend conferences and training to maintain proficiency.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Key Skills:
- Minimum of 7 years of project management experience, with at least 5 years in managing International Data Centre or HPC projects.
- Understanding of data centre components, including servers, storage, networking, cooling, and power systems.
- Familiarity with HPC environments and technologies.
- Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and multitasking abilities.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and project management software (e.g., MS Project, JIRA).
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- PMP, PRINCE2 Qualifications.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Certified Data Centre Project Management - CDCPM/CDCMP desirable, not essential.
