Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentoring and managing junior ecologists
  • Leading ecological surveys and assessments (e.g., UKHab, protected species, EcIA)
  • Providing ecological advice across internal teams and to external clients
  • Managing projects and producing technical reports and ecological management plans
  • Liaising with stakeholders and regulatory bodies
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practice

Key Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in ecological consultancy
  • At least one protected species licence
  • Full membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM - desirable)
  • Strong skills in habitat and protected species surveys (PEA, UKHab, BNG, bats, badger, water vole, etc.)
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills
  • Experience preparing fee proposals and risk assessments
  • Ability to manage and analyse ecological data
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Your new company A well-established, fully remote ecological consultancy is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join their growing team. Operating across a wide geographic region, the team works on a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from small private developments to large-scale infrastructure and housing schemes.

Your new role As a Senior Ecologist, you'll take on a leadership role within the consultancy, supporting both clients and junior team members.

  • Mentoring and managing junior ecologists
  • Leading ecological surveys and assessments (e.g., UKHab, protected species, EcIA)
  • Providing ecological advice across internal teams and to external clients
  • Managing projects and producing technical reports and ecological management plans
