Summary: The role of Senior / Principal Civil Engineer focuses on leading the design and delivery of infrastructure for residential projects across the UK. The successful candidate will ensure that civil engineering aspects meet client and regulatory standards while providing innovative and sustainable solutions. This position requires extensive experience in civil engineering, particularly within the UK residential development sector. The role is remote and classified as outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design and coordination of highways, drainage, utilities, and site infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with UK planning policy, Building Regulations, DMRB, SfA, and local authority standards.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of software (e.g., Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, PDS) to guide project delivery.

Key Skills:

  • Minimum 12+ years civil engineering experience with a focus on UK residential development.
  • Proven track record in leading design and delivery of housing schemes.
  • Strong understanding of UK planning system, Section 38/104/106 agreements, and NHBC standards.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with ICE or equivalent.
  • Experience in Design & Build contracts and working with major housebuilders.
  • Knowledge of BIM processes and digital design delivery.
  • Experience in sustainability frameworks (e.g., BREEAM Communities, net-zero infrastructure design).
  • Business development and work-winning experience.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the technical, aspects of civil engineering within housing developments, ensuring innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions that meet client, regulatory, and industry standards.

  • Ensure compliance with UK planning policy, Building Regulations, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), Sewers for Adoption (SfA), and local authority standards.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of software (e.g., Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, PDS) to guide project delivery.
