We are seeking a Senior Primary Support Engineer with deep expertise in PeopleSoft HCM, specifically Canadian Payroll, to join a high-performing support team. This role requires a hands-on expert who can troubleshoot complex payroll issues, analyze system defects, and ensure accurate Canadian tax calculations and compliance.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with strong functional and technical capabilities, capable of working independently in a fast-paced production support environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide L2/L3 production support for PeopleSoft HCM – Canadian Payroll
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex payroll processing issues, including tax, deductions, and retro calculations
- Analyze and validate Canadian payroll tax calculations (federal, provincial, CPP, EI, etc.)
- Investigate and resolve issues related to payroll cycles, year-end processing, and ROE
- Work on bug fixes, enhancements, and root cause analysis
- Collaborate with functional teams, HR, and finance stakeholders to resolve payroll discrepancies
- Support patching, tax updates, and legislative changes for Canadian payroll
- Perform data analysis using SQL queries to troubleshoot and validate payroll data
- Document issues, solutions, and processes for knowledge sharing
- Ensure SLAs are met and provide timely updates to stakeholders
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of experience with PeopleSoft HCM
- Strong hands-on experience in Canadian Payroll module
- Deep understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and tax calculations:
- Federal & Provincial taxes
- CPP (Canada Pension Plan)
- EI (Employment Insurance)
- Year-end processing (T4, RL-1, etc.)
- Proven experience in production support / troubleshooting roles (L2/L3)
- Strong knowledge of PeopleTools (Application Designer, PeopleCode, Query, Component Interface)
- Ability to write and analyze SQL queries
- Experience with payroll interfaces and integrations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with PeopleSoft Fluid
- Prior experience supporting multi-country payroll environments
- Exposure to tax updates and compliance changes in Canada
- Experience working in managed services or AMS environments
