Summary: The Senior Payroll Administrator will manage the payroll function for approximately 5,500 employees on a fully remote, 12-month fixed-term contract. This role involves leading a team of payroll administrators, handling complex payroll queries, and ensuring compliance with legislation and internal policies. The successful candidate will also be responsible for preparing BACS reconciliations and producing payroll reports. Strong experience in payroll management and relevant software is essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently manage and process end-to-end monthly payroll
- Lead and support a team of 3 payroll administrators
- Handle complex payroll queries with confidence and professionalism
- Maintain compliance with all statutory legislation and internal policies
- Prepare BACS and third-party reconciliations through to sign-off
- Transmit payroll via the BACS system accurately and on time
- Keep payroll processes and documentation up to date and in line with best practices
- Regularly produce data reports and payroll statistics
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members
- Liaise with HMRC and manage reconciliations through to payment
- Oversee the overpayments process and contribute to process improvements
- Conduct 1:1s, manage absence, and support performance reviews within your team
Key Skills:
- Minimum 5 years of payroll experience, with at least 2 years in a senior position
- Demonstrable experience running payroll independently
- Experience using Workday, SAP, and ResourceLink are essential
- Solid understanding of payroll legislation and best practices
- Confident in managing complex queries and offering resolutions
- Experience with payroll systems such as ResourceLink and SAP
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Excellent organisational, communication, and analytical skills
- Ideally CIPP qualified or working towards it
