Summary: A leading consultancy is seeking a Senior Network Engineer for an initial 3-month contract, with the potential for extension. The role primarily involves managing Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments, with a focus on virtualized infrastructure. The position is remote, with occasional on-site visits in London required. Candidates must be eligible for BPSS clearance and hold full rights to work in the UK without sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Windows Server (2016, 2022) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
- Oversee VMware vSphere and virtualized infrastructure management.
- Monitor, diagnose, and resolve server issues within defined service levels (SLAs).
- Conduct capacity and performance monitoring across large-scale server estates.
- Utilize Dell Storage Arrays and NAS-based storage solutions.
- Apply secure and resilient infrastructure design principles.
- Implement industry best practices for server estate optimization and continuous improvement.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience with Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
- Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere.
- Ability to monitor and resolve server issues effectively.
- Experience in capacity and performance monitoring.
- Familiarity with Dell Storage Arrays and NAS solutions.
- Understanding of secure infrastructure design principles.
- Track record of applying best practices for optimization.

Rate : £350 - £375 per day (Inside IR35)
Remote : with occasional visits on-site in London (rare)
Clearance : Must be eligible for BPSS clearance
RTW : Must hold full rights to work in the UK without a sponsorship
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience managing Windows Server (2016, 2022) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments
- Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere and virtualised infrastructure management
- Ability to monitor, diagnose, and resolve server issues within defined service levels (SLAs)
- Experience in capacity and performance monitoring across large-scale server estates
- Familiarity with Dell Storage Arrays and NAS-based storage solutions
- Understanding of secure and resilient infrastructure design principles
- Track record of applying industry best practices for server estate optimisation and continuous improvement
Desirable Attributes
- Experience in technical recovery or remediation environments
- Ability to collaborate closely with internal teams and stakeholders
- Analytical skills to assess infrastructure health and identify improvements
- Comfortable operating in complex, high-volume virtualised environments (hundreds of servers)
