Summary: This role is for a Senior Employment Counsel contractor at a fast-paced SaaS business, focusing on providing legal advice on employment law matters both in the UK and internationally. The position offers flexibility with remote working options and requires a pragmatic approach to support HR and leadership teams. The contractor will assist with ongoing employment-related projects while ensuring smooth operations of day-to-day legal matters. The role is initially until Christmas with the possibility of extension based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and practical legal advice on employee relations issues, including performance management, disciplinary actions, grievances, and terminations.
  • Support HR with drafting and reviewing employment contracts, policies, and procedures.
  • Advise on compliance with employment legislation across relevant jurisdictions (e.g., UK, EMEA).
  • Assist with internal investigations and support resolution of workplace disputes.
  • Monitor legal developments and ensure policies and practices remain compliant.
  • Collaborate with external counsel and international colleagues as needed on complex or cross-border matters.
  • Support employment-related aspects of M&A, restructuring, and other corporate initiatives.

Key Skills:

  • Qualified solicitor (UK) with 7+ years PQE in employment law.
  • Prior in-house experience preferred or exposure to tech/SaaS environments.
  • Strong understanding of UK employment law; international experience a plus.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

This is a great opportunity to join a SaaS business as a contractor (day rate). There is great flexibility as the role can be based remotely and competitive day rate on offer.

Overview: We are seeking a pragmatic and commercially-minded senior Employment Counsel to join our in-house legal team at a fast-paced SaaS business. This role focuses on BAU employment law matters (UK and International), supporting HR and leadership teams across the business with day-to-day legal advice and risk management relating to employment matters. There is a lot of complex employment related project work on-going currently and this role will be the spare pair of hands the business need to keep BAU employment matters running smoothly and efficiently whilst 2 members of the permanent team spend much needed time focusing on the project work with deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience: Qualified solicitor (UK) with 7+ years PQE in employment law. Prior in-house experience preferred or exposure to tech/SaaS environments. Working arrangements: Part time (4 days ideal but 3 days will be considered) Office working: Fully remote (If you do enjoy office working – the team are in 1 day a week in London)

Day rate: Competitive and DOE – Inside IR35 – Must use umbrella company or agency payroll

Duration of contract: Initially until Christmas with potential to extend depending on further needs.
