About the Role
Our client, a leading Fortune 50 retail corporation headquartered in Minneapolis, is seeking a Senior JVM Engineer to join their Food Replenishment Modernization Team within Global Supply Chain & Logistics (GSCL). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the modernization of core supply chain systems that power one of the largest retail operations in the United States, directly impacting how food products are replenished and distributed across a nationwide network of stores and distribution centers.

Job Description
As an Engineer on the Food Replenishment Modernization Team, you will build data services to manage Commodity Codes and DC (Distribution Center) Servicing Strategy, while also supporting the decommissioning of the legacy Schedule ID Adapter as a separate workstream.
Key outcomes of this role include:
- Managing Commodity Code associations for items through modern data services
- Removing DC Servicing Strategy from the legacy IMN system
- Supporting Schedule ID Adapter decommissioning as a parallel workstream
- Developing and testing code that delivers functionality aligned with overall business strategy and objectives
- Building features from the product backlog, sizing user stories, and executing all testing-related tasks (unit testing, automated test scripts, acceptance testing)
- Executing necessary project documentation and following industry-standard agile software design methodology
- Collaborating closely with other engineering teams, infrastructure, security, and business partners to ensure features meet business needs

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Senior-level development experience in Java and Kotlin
Senior-level experience with messaging platforms (such as Kafka) and exposure to microservices-based architecture, including consumer and producer implementations
Senior-level experience building and supporting REST APIs
Strong database experience with Oracle Exadata, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra
3–5 years in an engineering role
1–3 years participating in agile development (user stories, iterative development, etc.)
Experience with test-driven development and software test automation
Ability to ramp up quickly on an existing system and contribute with minimal guidance
Strong team collaboration and communication skills
Availability to work during Minneapolis hours (Central Time)
Ability to work closely and collaborate effectively with the TII team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with modular monorepo architecture
- Experience working on framework-free codebases
- Experience with RocksDB
- Ability to work 2 days onsite in Minneapolis, MN
