Summary: The Senior Java Software Engineer role involves developing and maintaining back-end applications for a leading global travel agency, focusing on financial data solutions within a cloud-first AWS infrastructure. The position requires expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and SQL Server, along with a strong emphasis on API development and system optimization. The engineer will also mentor junior developers and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance and data integrity. This is a 6-month remote contract position classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Back End applications using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Design and implement secure, scalable, and high-performance APIs.
  • Work with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to manage financial data pipelines.
  • Deploy, monitor, and optimize cloud-based applications in AWS, utilizing Infrastructure as Code (TypeScript, AWS CDK).
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while improving overall system reliability.
  • Guide and mentor junior developers, fostering best practices and technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to design solutions that align with both functional and architectural requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and system optimizations.
  • Maintain clear and structured communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Skills:

  • 6+ years of experience in Java/Spring Boot Back End development.
  • Strong expertise in Relational Databases (SQL Server).
  • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, GIT, Gradle, AWS, and Docker.
  • Familiarity with SOX, GDPR/PII, and DMA compliance requirements is advantageous.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities to support junior developers.
  • Ability to work independently and make critical technical decisions.
