Summary: The role of Senior Java Developer involves rebuilding a core platform in-house, requiring expertise in Java, AWS, and MongoDB. The candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and fixing existing code issues while collaborating with product and architecture teams. This position demands a strong understanding of modern software architecture and the ability to work autonomously while also collaborating effectively. The contract is outside IR35 and offers a competitive daily rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the project entirely, end to end
- Work across the stack using Java, React, AWS, MongoDB, and Elasticsearch
- Refactor and re-engineer core components
- Collaborate closely with product and architecture teams
- Fix existing problems without rearchitecting and redesigning
- Dig into existing codebase, breaking down and tracing the problem
- Form and construct and then reverse engineer the problems
Key Skills:
- Strong experience within the Java AWS stack
- Experience modernising or replatforming legacy systems
- Familiarity with microservices, CI/CD, or serverless architectures
- Interest in building scalable, high-performing distributed systems
- Great understanding of modern software architecture, design principles, and data structures
- Practical experience with Java, React, MongoDB, and AWS
- Curiosity and persistence in solving complex problems
- Ability to balance autonomy with collaboration

Senior Java Developer – Java, AWS, MongoDB, - UK remote, Outside IR35 contract 2 month initial plus extension
We are working with a business who are rebuilding their core platform from the ground up and are looking for a Senior Java engineer who’s up for a real challenge. Their system was originally built externally, and they've now brought it fully in-house. So, your mission is to get under the hood, untangle what’s there, and help them fix problems within teh code — cleaner, faster, and built to scale. Someone with a forensic mind who is then able to get on with the fix.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own the project entirely, end to end

Experience
