Senior Java Developer | Central Government Department | £480pd | Remote - UK (Leeds/Sheffield/London - 1x per month on-site)

We are looking for a Senior Java Developer with strong leadership and mentoring experience.
Tech Stack & Skills
- Strong, recent experience with modern Java & Spring Boot (legacy Java exp. a bonus)
- Front-end development experience - Thymeleaf & GOV.UK Design System desirable
- Designing & developing RESTful APIs + API versioning, OpenAPI/Swagger
- Relational databases, SQL, Spring Data JPA, Hibernate (Oracle desirable)
- Testing: JUnit 5, mocking frameworks, Playwright with Java for UI regression
- CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Helm charts
- AWS, Kubernetes, Microservices
- Observability: OpenSearch, Prometheus, structured logging
- Solid understanding of software design principles & design patterns
Requirements
- Active SC Clearance OR eligible and confident in passing SC
- Able to travel to Leeds / Sheffield / London max once per month
Contract: 6-12 months initial (scope to extend) | £480 per day | Inside via Umbrella
