Senior Java Developer (Investment Banking)

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Java Developer to join our team in Irvine, CA.

The ideal candidate will have over a decade of experience in enterprise software development, specifically within the Investment Banking domain.

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting mission-critical applications, utilizing legacy and modern Java technologies to drive business value.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable enterprise applications using Java technologies.
• Maintain and enhance existing systems built on Java 6 and Java 7, ensuring stability and performance.
• Manage and optimize complex database interactions using Sybase as the primary RDBMS.
• Develop and support mission-critical applications within an Investment Banking environment.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and lead technical discussions.
• Mentor junior development teams and promote best practices.
• Participate in Agile development processes and contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 10+ years of experience in designing and developing enterprise applications in Java technologies.
• Domain Expertise: Strong background in Investment Banking is mandatory.
• Core Java: Strong expertise in Core Java (versions 6 & 7), Shell Scripting, and EJB.
• Database: deep experience working with Sybase as the primary RDBMS, including strong expertise in SQL, stored procedures, and SQL Optimization.
• Mission-Critical Systems: Proven experience in developing and supporting high-availability, mission-critical applications.
• Best Practices: Strong knowledge of software development best practices, design patterns, and secure coding standards.
• DevOps: Experience with Git, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Methodology: Experience working in Agile methodologies.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to lead technical discussions, mentor development teams, and demonstrate great proactiveness.
• Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement scalable solutions.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with modern Java versions (Java 8+) is a plus, though the primary focus is on legacy support.
• Knowledge of financial instruments and trading systems.
