Summary: The Senior Internal Auditor role in Cambridge is a temporary position focused on delivering a comprehensive audit function across various key areas for a Local Authority. The successful candidate will evaluate internal controls, ensure resource efficiency, and provide advisory support. This position requires a proactive approach to risk-based audits and effective communication of findings. The role is set to start as soon as possible and allows for remote working.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform risk-based audits and reviews of key financial systems as outlined in the annual Audit Plan.
- Prepare reports on control effectiveness, compliance, and propose actions to address any weaknesses or non-compliance.
- Offer guidance on various organisational activities, including projects, procurement, and system procedures.
- Lead special investigations, including whistleblowing reviews, as required.
- Supervise peer reviews and stay updated on audit techniques and technological advancements.
Key Skills:
- Part-qualified or fully qualified CCAB or MIIA.
- Proven experience in internal auditing with a solid understanding of risk-based auditing practices.
- Excellent ability to communicate, interpret data, and produce clear, concise reports.
- Competence in Microsoft Office and other essential IT skills.
- A professional attitude, with the ability to work independently and adapt to changing demands.
- Commitment to continuous learning and development.
