Summary: The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will play a crucial role in a major infrastructure transformation project, focusing on a large-scale Data Centre migration and hardware refresh. This position requires strong hands-on expertise in Cisco UCS, NetApp, VMware, and data migration within enterprise environments. The engineer will be responsible for designing, documenting, and deploying infrastructure solutions, as well as managing data protection tooling. Occasional site visits to Reading are expected as part of this remote role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configuration, and documentation of infrastructure migrations and upgrades
  • Lead on Cisco UCS FlexPod deployments and fabric interconnect upgrades
  • Perform racking, stacking, and cabling of UCS chassis, blades (M5/M7), and rackmount servers
  • Configure and deploy Cisco blades and integrate with VMware environments
  • Carry out NetApp AFF A400 and E-Series migrations, including storage provisioning and zoning (FC/iSCSI)
  • Upgrade and configure Cisco UCSM and Cisco Nexus switches
  • Support Commvault infrastructure setup and data migration
  • Decommission, relocate, and set up kit as part of the DC move
  • Provide hands-on support throughout the migration lifecycle

Key Skills:

  • Experience delivering Data Centre migrations or large-scale infrastructure refreshes
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco UCS FlexPod, fabric interconnects, Cisco UCSM
  • Experience with NetApp AFF A400 and NetApp E-Series deployments and migrations
  • Skilled in zoning storage (Fibre Channel & iSCSI) and Cisco Nexus switching

Location: Remote, occasional site visits in Reading

Contract Length: 3 months+

We’re supporting a major infrastructure transformation for a customer undergoing a large-scale Data Centre migration and hardware refresh. They require a highly capable Infrastructure Engineer to join on a project basis, with strong hands-on skills across Cisco UCS, NetApp, VMware, and data migration in enterprise environments. You’ll be instrumental in delivering a range of infrastructure upgrade, migration, and deployment projects — including designing and documenting solutions, deploying new hardware, reconfiguring existing infrastructure, and handling data protection tooling (Commvault).
