Summary: The Senior Health & Safety Advisor role involves providing expert health and safety advice to a large public sector client, focusing on compliance with legislation and best practices. The position requires the development and implementation of health and safety procedures, conducting incident investigations, and leading complex projects. This interim role is essential for enhancing workplace safety and requires collaboration with various stakeholders. The advisor will also monitor health and safety trends to ensure continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist Health & Safety advice to management and staff.
- Support the development of a recognised Health & Safety Management System.
- Develop and implement health, safety, and welfare procedures and policies.
- Conduct incident investigations, produce reports, and ensure corrective actions.
- Identify staff training needs and assist in providing H&S training.
- Lead on complex H&S projects and collaborate with key stakeholders.
- Monitor and report on H&S trends, ensuring continuous improvement.
Key Skills:
- Minimum NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a senior H&S role.
- Strong knowledge of H&S legislation and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentations.
- Proficiency in MS Office and MS 365.
- Desirable: Specialised H&S experience in areas such as laboratories or marine environments.
