Senior Fund Accountant

About GridRail

GridRail is AI-native operations for private credit funds.

A fund's books live in one model - a digital twin of the fund - where every number traces back to its source, notices and statements generate straight from the model, and AI agents run the close: reconcile the books, resolve breaks, draft PCAPs.

The fund administrator stays authoritative.

GridRail is how the fund proves the numbers.

The platform is live with our first design partner, a European private credit fund, and their team is already working in it.

Every figure we produce has to hold up next to their own model and their administrator's reports. That's where you come in.

What you'll do

  • You'll be the fund accounting authority on our side.
  • Run the tie-out every close cycle: the platform's numbers against the fund's own Excel model and the administrator's reports.
  • Own the reconciliation workpaper: where there's a break, dig in, trace it to the source, and say clearly which number is right.
  • Walk the fund's accountants through what you found - one fund accountant to another.
  • Answer the questions that shape the product: how equalisation interest works under this LPA, which day count a facility uses, where the waterfall sends a fee catch-up.
  • Review what the platform generates - drawdown and distribution notices, PCAPs, LP statements - and tell us what a CFO would push back on.
  • Build test cases: fund scenarios with known correct answers, so we can prove the platform gets them right, close after close.

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years in fund accounting for closed-end funds.
  • Private credit or private debt is ideal; PE also works.
  • We care about the closes you've run, not the years on the CV - a few funds taken from first drawdown through audit teaches more than a decade of the same quarter on repeat.
  • You've done the real work yourself: capital calls, distributions, equalisation, management fees, carry waterfalls, capital account statements.
  • You already use AI in your own work - Claude, ChatGPT, whatever you've made work for you - and you have your own views on where it helps and where it falls over. This one is a must.
  • You'll spend your days reviewing what AI agents produce, so you need to be past the 'is this magic or is this nonsense' stage.
  • An open mind about how this job should work. GridRail is changing fund accounting at the root, not adding a tool on top of the old way.
  • If a better process excites you more than a familiar one comforts you, we'll get along.
  • You can read an LPA and say what it actually means for the numbers.
  • A sharp eye. You notice when something is off by a few hundred euros, and you can't rest until you know why.
  • You write clearly. Your work papers make sense to people who don't do this all day.
  • You're happy working independently with a small team.

Nice to have

  • Time at a fund administrator (Citco, Apex, Aztec, Ocorian, Alter Domus or similar) - you know how that side works from the inside.
  • Luxembourg fund structures (SCSp, Sarl), AIFMD reporting.

How this works

Contract role, around 1-2 days a week, busier around quarter ends.

Remote, European hours. London is a big plus - being able to sit down together now and then makes this work better.

You work directly with the founder.

We're at the very start of building this team. If this goes well for both of us, there will be a lot more to do here - more funds, more responsibility, and a bigger part in where the company goes.
