Summary: Pareto is seeking experienced Senior DFMA Manufacturing Engineers to work with a leading AI lab on innovative DFMA assessment exercises aimed at enhancing product and process design judgment in manufacturing. The role involves authoring scenario briefs, collaborating with experts, and delivering high-quality DFMA exercises while optimizing assessment performance. Candidates should have a strong background in Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering, particularly in DFMA, and be proficient in relevant software tools. This position offers remote work flexibility and a contract-based engagement with potential for future projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Author scenario briefs, CAD starting files, and BOMs: Encode manufacturability constraints and tolerance stacks.
- Develop answer keys: Provide time/cost rationale and iterate based on item analysis from small pilots.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts: Conduct edge-case reviews to ensure coverage and accuracy.
- Deliver DFMA exercises: Produce 12 DFMA exercises covering sheet metal, machining, and assembly line design with clear grading rubrics within the first 90 days.
- Optimize assessment performance: Reduce average candidate completion time by 15% while preserving discrimination power (p-value < 0.05 on pilot).
- Automate and standardize: Build a reusable bill-of-process template and cost/assembly time calculator in Python.
- Publish best practices: Create a style guide aligning exercises with ASME Y14.5 and DFMA standards.
Key Skills:
- 5+ years of professional experience in Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering, with specialization in Product & Process Design (DFMA).
- Proficiency in FreeCAD, cadquery (Python), Jupyter, and Minitab.
