Summary: We are seeking a Senior DBA with extensive experience in managing Oracle and PostgreSQL databases within cloud-first, high-availability environments, particularly those utilizing Guidewire on AWS. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in database administration, troubleshooting, and automation, ensuring optimal performance and security of database systems. Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, monitor, and optimize performance for Oracle and PostgreSQL databases in production and non-production environments.
- Work closely with application teams to support Guidewire.
- Troubleshoot complex database issues performance bottlenecks, slow queries, locking, partitioning.
- Automate database maintenance tasks using shell scripts, Python, or other scripting tools.
- Create and maintain robust DB security policies, user permissions, and audit compliance processes.
- Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to implement best practices in database design and cloud deployment.
Key Skills:
- 10+ years of DBA experience, with a focus on Oracle and PostgreSQL.
- Advanced PostgreSQL knowledge, including replication, logical decoding, vacuuming, and performance tuning.
- Strong experience working within Guidewire systems (data modeling, integrations, upgrades).
- Proven experience managing cloud-hosted DBs in AWS (RDS, Aurora, EC2-hosted DBs).
- Experience with database migrations to/from Oracle/Postgres in AWS.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Terraform/Cloud Formation, and automation practices.
- Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, etc.).
