Summary: The Senior Database Engineer role involves managing and optimizing database systems, specifically Oracle and SQL Server, in a production environment. The position requires troubleshooting production issues and implementing enhancements while ensuring high availability and disaster recovery. This is a remote-friendly position with a preference for candidates located in Glasgow or Newcastle. The contract is rolling for a duration of 6 months.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage database administration across Oracle and SQL Server in a production setting.
• Troubleshoot production issues and recommend resolutions or enhancements.
• Undertake database builds, patching, migrations, and upgrades.
• Implement and support high availability and disaster recovery methods.
• Perform database performance tuning and optimization.
• Utilize Oracle Enterprise Manager for database management.
• Collaborate effectively and communicate verbally and in writing.
• Maintain awareness of ITIL Service Management processes.

Key Skills:

• Strong understanding of database administration for Oracle and SQL Server.
• Experience with high availability and disaster recovery methods.
• Database performance tuning and optimization skills.
• Familiarity with Oracle/Red Hat Linux, Windows, AIX, and Solaris operating systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• ITIL Service Management awareness.
